Dust Bowl Brewing Co. – Monterey Tap Room
During the summer of 2019 we had the great opportunity to remodel the historic Train Depot at Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey.
This building is one of the most historically significant buildings in Monterey, where many would take the train into town to work at the canneries and visit historic Monterey. Imagine being a passenger in the Del Monte Express in the late 1800’s – early 1900’s to see how Old Monterey functioned in its early days. Now you can drink beer and view all the interesting historic photos posted up in the Dust Bowl Brewing Co. Monterey Tap Room.
Our work here involved transforming the historic building into a comfortable space where people can enjoy a cold beer and watch the tourists pass by on the bike path and Fisherman’s Wharf. We did three main areas of construction of this project.
The first phase was the interior where we restored the historic windows-doors, built a rustic steel bar with surrounding bar tables, and the refinishing of the old flooring which was ground down to the original concrete slabs and treated with an epoxy clear coat.
The exterior work of this project included the fire-pit and other patio heaters, a 90′ long banquette composed of (stainless steel, redwood and glass) to create a wind break from the ocean breeze, and for fun, we built in an astro turf grass field for corn hole and kids play area.
The final phase of construction which was completed early 2020 was the added bathrooms to the exterior area to serve all the patrons of Wedo’s Tacos and to relieve all the thirsty beer drinkers.
This project was a collaborative team effort with the owners and WR&D Architect in Monterey. Please take a trip to this establishment to see our work and enjoy what Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf and Dust Bowl Brewing has to offer.
